PA 250: Mapping Pennsylvania's Future -- Representation, Voting Rights, Redistricting and Reform

Event Description

Pennsylvania’s first constitution was ratified in 1776, 250 years ago. It was the most radical constitution of its time, with an extensive Declaration of Rights that shaped many state governments that followed. The peoples’ right to alter and reform their own government was first stated in that constitution, and appears in every version of the PA Constitution since, as well as in many other state constitutions. Yet, in Pennsylvania, that right is still not fully realized.

Fair Districts PA, the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, Common Cause PA, the Committee of Seventy and other PA advocacy organizations will be gathering to celebrate Pennsylvania’s first constitution and to consider important government reforms that enjoy broad public support but remain stalled in the halls of Harrisburg. We’ll hear from national and state leaders, network with others from PA regions, and learn new skills for advocacy and civic engagement.
