The Math of Gerrymandering: Measuring Fair Representation

Event Description

The Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) STEM Club is hosting a presentation that will be focused on the intersection between math and gerrymandering. Fair Districts PA Speaker Rich Rafferty will provide background information on redistricting and and a brief history and context of redistricting and gerrymandering in Pennsylvania. Fair Districts PA Speaker and MCCC Student Vincent Nelson will cover how statistics and mathematical tools can be used to objectively recognize and evaluate gerrymandered states and districts.

Fair Districts PA is a non-partisan coalition of citizens and organizations seeking to reform PA redistricting rules by ensuring that the process is impartial, transparent, and accountable.
